Safari Arts CAMps | June 4th- 8th
Ages 4-11 8:30am-3:00pm
Safari Arts Camp is a one week five day summer program for children to experience the arts through music, dance, drama, visual, and literary arts. Students will be exposed to array of different artistic mediums, crafts, and songs. The program concludes with a final performance for parents, relatives, and friends showcasing the children and their experience.

Little Authors Camp | June 11th-15th
Theme of the Book: Inspiration
Little Authors of tomorrow is a one week program that will run for approximately 5 days for the duration of the summer. This summer program is geared towards teaching students how to write and publish their own book. Since this class is only for 1 week, the book that will be published will go as one collective unit so each student will have their own chapter within the book. The students will engage and learn the art of storytelling through African traditions and concepts. Literacy is implemented through writing exercises, learning the language of the African Drum, crafting stories, and poetry, allowing them to learn how to properly create a book. Towards the end of the camp the students will have an opportunity to recite and perform their published work to their parents. Completion and Finalization of the book is mailed to each student after the camp is over.

Summer Art Camp: Hands-On Art for Children with Autism | June 11th, 13th, 15th
Ages: 8-12 8:30am- 3:00pm
Engage in a variety of hands-on experiences, and explore art processes to create works of art in the Music Department during this camp designed specifically for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Each day will be a new art adventure as we explore different themes through art-making activities, sensory experiences, and the campers' own personal interests. During camp, a special guest music therapist will lead interactive musical activities to spark our imaginations and get our toes tapping! Taught by qualified instructors, the camp will have additional helpers to provide one-on-one guidance. Visual picture schedules and social stories will be used to integrate art, music, social interaction, sensory exploration, and movement. Please note: Parents will receive a camper survey prior to this camp so that teachers can plan specific activities and projects that will appeal to the children's interests.
Contempo Kids- Music Creation Camp |
June 4th- 8th
Ages: 9-14 Time: 8:30Am-3:00pm
Be the Composer! Create original music! Express your musical voice! Work collaboratively, refine listening skills and have fun! Contempo Kids is a composition curriculum developed by Intersection to get students writing and creating music and developing their unique musical voice. It focuses on music creation encouraging and guiding students to compose and create original works. While rooted in Western classical music, Contempo Kids will explore other styles and musical expressions, notation and other methods of creation, tools and technology. Through the curriculum, students will have a deeper understanding of musical components, intention, and communication. Students will have access to visiting composers and musicians from Intersection. All Star-Music Camp | June 4th- July 6th
The All Star Performance Summer Band Camp is designed to give young aspiring music students insight into the music profession and what it takes to become a successful artist, while strengthening the student's’ overall musicianship. Activities include visiting music-publishing companies, working with professional musicians, studio sessions, performing at public events, and learning to create music. The summer band camp schedule is filled with a variety of professional musical experiences that will aid the student to reach the highest possible standards for both rehearsals and performances which will be of great benefit when the student returns to school in the Fall. Blues Kids Camp | July 2nd- 6th
Tennessee State University, Music for L.I.F.E., and the Blues Kids Foundation proudly present Fernando Jones' Blues Camp this Summer. Blues Camp is free for student musicians ages 12 to 18. Music Theater Camp | July 9th-20th
Ages: 8-17 9:00am-4:30pm
As CAMA's highly popular summer program, the musical theatre camp is geared for youth ages 8-17 to experience the life of a Broadway star in a musical production in which they'll star! This experience includes vocal instruction, dance, stage management, and acting. The program will conclude with a final performance for family & friends showcasing the youth along with their NEW thespian knowledge and understanding.
